My Approach to Psychotherapy

Initial Consultation

Finding the right psychotherapist or even knowing what to look for can be difficult, especially in Denver, where there exist many counselors and therapists from which to choose. Therefore, I offer a free 50-minute consultation so that we may meet without you needing to make a financial commitment or feel pressure to work with me as your psychologist.

Because finding the right therapist is a crucial decision, it is important to me that you feel comfortable working with me. If you do decide to work with me, we can discuss arrangement to being psychotherapy; however, if it does not seem as though we are a good match, I am more than happy to provide you with referrals to other psychologists I know that may be better suited for you.

My Approach to Therapy

Because finding the right “fit” is so important, how we develop the our relationship is my top priority. I want you to feel comfortable, not encountering someone who is overtly or covertly expressing a judgment of any of your experiences or demanding that they be altered. My training has afforded me the opportunity to learn multiple treatment approaches, such as integrative, relational, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and existential-humanistic therapies.

No amount of training, however, can make me an expert on you, and I see one of my primary tasks as helping you give words to your experience so that the more troubling aspects may be understood and changed. Through careful listening, description, and clarification, my hope is that you begin to hear your own voice more accurately and truthfully.

What Services Are Offered?

My training as a psychologist and doctoral-level mental health clinician has provided me with relevant and valuable skills in treating the full spectrum of mental health concerns. I see adolescents through elderly adults in both individual and group therapy. While I have particular interests and specialities in areas such as grief and loss, emotional trauma, posttraumatic stress (PTSD), individuals diagnosed with personality disorders, and military-related issues, I also have a great deal of experience with many other problems of living such as unsatisfying work and personal relationships. Regardless of what you may be seeking psychotherapy for, I will work to tailor our sessions to fit your unique needs.
